December 15th 2012…On Saturday, December 15th, 2012, the Nation of Patriots (501(C)3 nonprofit that raises money for the families of wounded veterans) will be donating $1,213 to a wounded veteran and his family in Atlantic Beach, FL and teaming up with Beaches Habitat For Humanity which is currently building a home for this family. Gena and Ryan Smith are the first Wounded Warrior Partner Family with Beaches Habitat. The family will be presented the check at 610 Orchid Street in Atlantic Beach where their home is under construction. The presentation will be made at 12:15 p.m.

The donations this family will be receiving were derived from The Nation of Patriots signature event – The Patriot Tour. In its 4th consecutive year the Patriot Tour consists of passing one American flag around the country starting from Wisconsin Harley-Davidson in Oconomowoc, WI on Memorial Day weekend and ending on September 1st right back where it started. In 2012 the flag traveled nearly 14,000 miles through the 48 continental states for exactly 100 days and was accompanied by more than 90,000 motorcycle riders to honor wounded American military personnel.

This enormous tour, which has been officially named The Patriot Tour, was created in 2009 to raise awareness and funds for the Nation of Patriots organization; an organization that serves wounded U.S. veterans and their families facing health and financial heartache when returning home from service. Although this is considered the third annual tour, the unofficial first tour had one sole rider and flag bearer, Nation of Patriots Founder Bill Sherer.

“The goal of Nation of Patriots and the Patriot Tour remains the same as it did when I started as one man, on one motorcycle, with one flag: to raise awareness about the economical, emotional, and physical challenges many wounded U.S. veterans face when coming home,” said Sherer. “Since its inception, the outpouring of care, concern, and donations from citizens across the country, has energized the tour, educated others, and helped raise money for soldiers and families in need. I am thankful for the thousands of people, riders, and supporters who have participated and continue to offer encouragement by spreading the word,” Sherer continued.

Nation of Patriots is a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation founded in 2009 by Bill Sherer. A complete map, photos, and additional information about both the 2012 Patriot Tour and The Nation of Patriots organization, may be found at www.nationofpatriots.org.
