Comcast Gives Back to the Atlantic Beach Community

Since June of 2008, Comcast has generously awarded $9,000 to Beaches Habitat for Humanity through the Comcast Community Investment Grant program. This money helps fund the After School Tutoring Program which is run Monday through Friday at the Jordan and Donner Community Centers in Atlantic Beach.

The money supports programs that are designed to improve the academic performance of students in the Donner Community by providing assistance with their homework, reading fluency and comprehension, writing, math and computer skills. Students also learn about the importance of physical activity and a healthy diet.

“Our mission is to eliminate substandard housing by putting faith in action. We build quality affordable homes for qualified families in need through partnership with volunteers, community and future homeowners. Following construction, we provide training to guide families through homeownership, as well as educational opportunities to allow families to achieve greater economic independence,” said Executive Director Ralph Marcello.

Marcello added, “Comcast’s donation helps us immensely to fulfill our goal to continue to make education a priority in the lives of our Habitat families and other members of the Donner Community. Beaches Habitat for Humanity greatly appreciates Comcast’s extremely generous contribution.”
