Beaches Habitat to Build Home for Wounded Warrior | Press Release

Atlantic Beach, FL –Beaches Habitat is honored to introduce Gena and Ryan Smith as its first Wounded Warrior Partner Family. To celebrate the start of construction, a wall raising ceremony will be held on Saturday, November 10th at 12:30 p.m. for the Smith Family. The location is 610 Orchid Street in Mayport.

Beaches Habitat understands that resources available to Wounded Warriors are restricted by their visible and invisible wounds of war, as well as their need for continuing medical care which often limits the earning capacity of family caregivers.? Beaches Habitat would like to help fill this housing affordability void, and in so doing, honor and empower Warriors who have fought so valiantly for the freedoms we all enjoy.? Our close proximity to Wounded Warrior Project Headquarters, and a large naval installation with support facilities for Veterans, makes Beaches Habitat the ideal place to create a model housing program which meets the needs of Wounded Warriors.? “The opportunity to make a difference in the lives of Warriors is exciting.? Our ultimate goal is to assist Wounded Warriors with affordable housing opportunities locally and potentially across the nation.? What we have done at Beaches Habitat can be duplicated around the Nation.? This project blends the mission of WWP with Habitat for Humanity’s desire to empower deserving citizens.” said Ralph Marcello, Beaches Habitat President.

The Smith Family home is sponsored by Turner Pest Control.? “Turner Pest Control has a strong commitment to giving back to the communities where we live and work,” said Mark Slater, CEO of Turner Pest Control.? “We just opened our new Jacksonville Beach branch, so I am pleased that we could already demonstrate our commitment to this community by sponsoring the first Beaches Habitat for Humanity home with the Wounded Warrior Project.? I am proud to be a part of this community and this landmark project.”

Construction on the Smith Family home will last four months and members of the Beaches Habitat Women Build team will help build the house with Turner Pest Control and other volunteers.
