Beaches Habitat for Humanity is celebrating 20 years of building hope at the beaches. Learn more about us and our mission by viewing our YouTube video, generously donated by George Ameer!
Beaches Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry dedicated to eliminating substandard housing in the Jacksonville Beaches. As an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, we work in partnership with local families and volunteers to build and rehabilitate simple, decent homes for qualified families in need. Recognizing the importance of education in breaking the cycle of poverty, we also offer college scholarships, after-school tutoring and rewards for academic excellence for our partner families.
President, Ralph Marcello, on the Role of Your Local Habitat Affiliate:
“Most of us can recall at some point in our life, when all we needed was a helping hand. Beaches Habitat is all about helping hands. At Beaches Habitat we are not about a hand out- we are about a hand up. That’s right, we help families help themselves to become responsible homeowners and contributing community members.”
“If you would like to join us in this mission, we extend a welcoming hand to you. Please consider volunteering or donating. Just like a home is built one nail at a time, we welcome your help one hour at a time or one dollar at a time. If you have thoughts on how we can better serve our mission, I’d like to hear from you (Click Here).”
Habitat for Humanity International
Beaches Habitat is one of more than 1,700 affiliates in the USA and 550 international affiliates that combined have built more than 350,000 homes throughout the world. Affiliates of Habitat for Humanity International are independent, nonprofit organizations that are organized by local citizens and operate with local boards and local volunteers. Volunteers provide most of the labor, and corporate, faith-based and individual donors provide the money, materials and labor necessary to build Habitat homes. Habitat for Humanity International provides its affiliates with publicity and informational materials. In return, Beaches Habitat for Humanity donates 10% of all undesignated dollars to its sister affiliates in Costa Rica. Since being founded in 1992, we have sent more than $262,000 to Habitat for Humanity Costa Rica, helping move more than 80 families into new homes.
