At Beaches Habitat for Humanity, we recognize that we would be nowhere without our dedicated network of volunteers. To that end, we welcome people from all walks of life to join us as we build simple, decent, affordable houses in partnership with God and families in need. Whether serving on a committee, building on the worksite, mentoring after school or helping out around the office, we are so very thankful to all our volunteers!
VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: Chris Overstreet

Chris Overstreet helps out with our annual event, Beach Bash, by stuffing thousands of invitations.
The definition of perseverance could be re-written as a name: Christine “Chris” Overstreet. A Beaches Habitat homeowner for seven years, she has faced her share of hardships, but has continued to volunteer with Beaches Habitat regardless of these setbacks.
She began volunteering in 2004 when she purchased a home in our Forsyth Court neighborhood and she has not stopped since. When her home was under construction, Chris could always be found painting or sweeping. She was so happy for the house that sometimes she would be the only one working on it; “It would only be me and my grandson working…we painted my whole house,” said Chris.
After critical medical issues forced her to stop working on construction sites, she turned her attention to the office, where she helps out with mailings and provides some comic relief. Chris enjoys spending time in the office and says of the staff, “I love the people here; we greet each other with hugs”.
Beaches Habitat President, Ralph Marcello, has nothing but praise for our all-star volunteer, “Chris Overstreet is a treasured member of the Beaches Habitat family. We deeply appreciate her strong enthusiasm and support of our cause”.
