Get Involved: Women Build Day – 9/29/2021
Connect with your community and meet new friends on September’s Women Build Day! We’re winding down construction in Haywood Estates II and we need some womanpower to get it done.
From 8am to 12pm on Wednesday, September 29th, build with other local women, learn some new skills and help a family make their dream of homeownership come true.
What is Women Build?
Women Build is Habitat for Humanity's initiative to empower women to address the affordable housing crisis in our community.
The fact is, construction is a largely male-dominated field. That's not a bad thing, unless it discourages women from participating equally! Women Build is designed to provide a site that is mostly female to help create a more welcoming environment for women who might hesitate to volunteer otherwise.
What is the point of a Women Build Day?
Beaches Habitat typically hosts a Women Build each fall, with a mostly female crew building a home (or two) from start to finish, slab to roof to landscaping.
Until we're ready to start construction on our next full Women Build, Beaches Habitat will host a monthly Women Build event.
Our goal with the monthly events is to help keep our Women Build volunteers connected with Beaches Habitat and one another while continuing to build skills and relationships that will help prepare you for the future Women Build. And, hopefully, you'll have some fun too!
Your gift helps make Women Build possible
The suggested gift for Women Build participants is $25. A donation is not required to participate! Give what feels comfortable for you.
We love groups, particularly female-led and female-focused groups. We won't be able to host any groups on the July Women Build Day, but we will have opportunities for Women Build groups in the future. If you're interested in scheduling a group for an upcoming Women Build project, get in touch with Sarah Jared at (904) 595-5793 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
