Additional Requirements and Information

Transportation*

Interns are responsible for their own transportation in the United States. Public transportation is limited in our community. We recommend that interns plan to rent or purchase a vehicle of some kind during their stay. A bicycle is a suitable option (along with helmet, lights, lock) and can be purchased for as little as $100 US.

Insurance*

Medical care in the United States can be very expensive. Due to the potential hazards associated with construction, Beaches Habitat for Humanity requires all international volunteers to provide proof of medical insurance coverage during their stay. A number of companies offer short term medical insurance plans for international travelers. More information is available through the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Housing

Beaches Habitat for Humanity has housing available for international interns during your internship period. Beaches Habitat will not charge rent or utilities. Interns must maintain the property, use resources responsibly and provide their own food, clothing, sheets, towels, etc. A complete list of what is included with the housing and what interns should bring with them will be sent upon acceptance of an internship.
