Thank you: Women Build Week
We are so grateful for all of the volunteers who participated in Women Build Week 2021! From helping at Builders Classic to building a birdhouse to sheathing a roof, you were a part of a group of incredible volunteers, making real progress towards addressing the affordable housing crisis in our community.
With your help, two of our future homeowners, Denise and Charlene, are closer to achieving their dreams of homeownership. We are so grateful for the more than 250 volunteer hours that Women Builders donated during Women Build Week!
Thank you for joining us this past week, helping to work toward our vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
What is Women Build?
Women Build began in 2004 when a construction volunteer was inspired to get more women involved in construction at Beaches Habitat. Women Build was a growing program at other Habitat organizations throughout the country and it seemed like a great fit for Beaches Habitat.
The first Women Build began with construction training and included around 30 novice builders. From that time forward, at least one home each year is designated as a Women Build and is constructed primarily by female volunteers.
Save the Date
Until the next Women Build kick off is confirmed, Beaches Habitat will host a designated Women Build day each month. If there is interest, we will also include training and social events, too!
The next Women Build Day will take place on Saturday, June 19th!
