Home Dedication: Last Four Homes in Haywood II

Beaches Habitat for Humanity hosted a Home Dedication on Saturday, March 26, to celebrate the completion of four homes in Haywood Estates II.

During the ceremony, guests heard from representatives of each home’s sponsor. Jim Furyk of the Jim and Tabitha Furyk Foundation, Jared Rice, Executive Director of THE PLAYERS Championship, and Michael McNaughton, COO of Sleiman Enterprises, spoke to their organization’s commitment to Beaches Habitat’s mission.

Nancy Huang, a long-time volunteer, spoke of her connection to Beaches Habitat, which began when she joined the Women Build in 2004. She and her husband Larry have been generous benefactors for many years, including the title sponsorship of Beaches Habitat’s upcoming golf tournament, Builders Classic.

The ceremony also included gift presentations from local partners, a welcome message from Jessica Sabbs of the Haywood Estates homeowners association, remarks from each of the homeowners, and ribbon-cutting at each home.

Thank you to everyone who helped make these homes possible and those who joined us to celebrate. It was a beautiful and joyful day for the new homeowners!

Future Homeowner
Alfie and her two daughters, Lavonne and Pheobe, are excited to own a home that fits their needs. "I can't control how my kid gets around in the everyday world but to be able to come home to a space that we don't have to squeeze through, a home that is just as comfortable for [Lavonne] as it is for us means the world."
Future Homeowner, Jamie

Jamie

Future Homeowner
Jamie's faith has carried her through as she and her daughter Gianna, who has cerebral palsy, waited for their home. " I always knew that God was going to take care of us. At times, it doesn’t seem like the light is very bright, but if you are patient and wait, God shows up in a huge way."

Charlene

Future Homeowner
An ARMY veteran, grandmother, and avid gardener, Charlene has spent her life as a caregiver. Now, she has the chance to take care of herself, especially living close to the peace of the ocean. Charlene is looking forward to owning a home in the beaches community where she has lived for nearly a decade.
Future Homeowner, Denise

Denise

Future Homeowner
Denise was born in Jacksonville and grew up in Jacksonville Beach. She thought rising housing costs were going to force her to move away from the place that she has always called home until she found Beaches Habitat. "I helped build my own house and I can be proud of that."

Thank you!
