Volunteer Spotlight: Nancy Flynn

Nancy Flynn, Photographer

If there were ever a true “energizer bunny,” it would be Nancy Flynn. Her enthusiasm and creativity shine through in everything she does, including her work with Beaches Habitat.

Nancy grew up moving often as part of a military family, but eventually put down roots in Atlantic Beach. A Fletcher High School graduate, she built lifelong friendships here and has always loved being part of this community by the ocean.

Nancy worked for 40 years as a hairstylist and had her own salon for 15 years. In 1997, she took a photography class that ignited her passion. Nancy has built a thriving photography business, capturing weddings, portraits, and family memories. Her camera is more than just her creative outlet; it’s also her way of giving back.

Nancy first connected with Beaches Habitat when our team reached out to her local photography guild looking for volunteers to help document builds and events. She quickly became an important part of our storytelling. She captures more than just construction through her lens. She captures the connections, joy, and hope that shine when volunteers, families, and supporters come together to build homes.

For Nancy, volunteering with Beaches Habitat is about more than taking photos. It’s about showing the world what’s possible when a community comes together to lift one another up. “It’s about capturing connection, community, and change,” she says.

When she’s not behind the camera, Nancy enjoys raising and releasing monarch butterflies—her way of “changing the world, one butterfly at a time.” It’s a motto that reflects her spirit: always seeking ways, big and small, to inspire beauty, joy, and transformation.

We are grateful to Nancy for sharing her time, talent, and energy with Beaches Habitat. Her work helps us tell the story of homes, community, and hope—one photo at a time.

Nancy shows us that volunteering isn’t just about building houses—it’s about sharing what you love to do in service of others. Whatever your gift may be, there’s a way to use it to support families here at Beaches Habitat. Get involved by volunteering or contact us if you think you have a talent that would serve our mission.
