Building More Than a Home: Meet Alana, Our Women Build Week 2026 Homeowner

At Beaches Habitat for Humanity, we believe every home tells a story, and during Women Build Week 2026, that story is one of strength, perseverance, and the unwavering love of a mother for her children.

This year, at Coastal Haven, we are proud to introduce Alana Christensen, our 2026 Women Build homeowner. Her journey reflects the heart of our mission and the impact of those who volunteer with Beaches Habitat to help build safe, affordable homes in our community.

A Mother’s “Why”

For Alana, everything begins and ends with her daughters.

“They are truly my whole world and the reason behind everything I do,” she shares. “Being their mom is the greatest blessing in my life.”

Like many families served through Beaches Habitat for Humanity, Alana’s dream is rooted in creating stability, opportunity, and a brighter future. Her journey is driven by a powerful purpose: to show her daughters what resilience looks like and to prove that no matter where you start, you can build something better.

Turning Hope Into Reality

Alana applied to the Beaches Habitat program with a goal many families share: to create a more stable and secure future for her daughters, a place where her family can truly feel at home.

For families navigating rising housing costs, renting can feel uncertain. Through Women Build Week 2026 and the broader work of Beaches Habitat for Humanity, homeownership becomes an achievable goal.

While the process hasn’t always been easy, it has been life changing.

“It has been challenging at times, but also incredibly rewarding,” Alana says. “It reminded me that there are people and organizations that truly care about helping families succeed.”

This is the impact made possible when individuals choose to volunteer with Beaches Habitat and support affordable housing initiatives at Coastal Haven.

The Power of Women Build

Being selected as the Women Build homeowner carries deep meaning for Alana, especially during Women Build Week 2026, one of the most impactful Beaches Habitat for Humanity events of the year.

“It represents strength, empowerment, and the power of women supporting each other,” shared Alana. “Knowing the women in the community are coming together to help build a home for me and my daughters is something I will never take for granted.”

Women Build brings together volunteers from across the community to uplift one another while building homes side by side. Whether you’re picking up tools for the first time or returning to the build site, every person who chooses to volunteer with Beaches Habitat plays a role in creating lasting change.

For Alana’s daughters, the impact is already clear:
“It shows my girls that women can lift each other up and create opportunities that change lives.”

A Home Full of Firsts at Coastal Haven

At Coastal Haven, Alana’s future home represents more than construction, it represents a fresh start.

She looks forward to the everyday moments that will turn a house into a home: decorating her daughters’ rooms, cooking dinners together, celebrating holidays, and watching her girls grow up in a place that is truly theirs.

“It will be more than just a house,” she says. “It will be a home filled with love, memories, and a sense of security.”

Together, We Build

Alana’s story is a powerful reminder of what Women Build is all about – community, empowerment, and opportunity.

As we approach Women Build Week, Beaches Habitat for Humanity is working to close the remaining funding gap on Alana and her daughters’ home. We invite you to be part of this moment by making a gift in honor of Women Build.

Because together, we’re not just building homes, we’re building brighter futures.
