Volunteer Spotlight: Marcia Booth

Written by Antoniette Saladino, Family Selection Committee Volunteer

Beaches Habitat for Humanity remembers and honors the remarkable service of longtime volunteer Marcia Booth, whose compassion, wisdom, and dedication left a lasting impact on our organization and the families we serve.

For more than twenty years, Marcia faithfully served on the Family Selection Committee, bringing empathy, fairness, and a deep respect for every family she encountered. She approached each conversation with care, listening closely and asking thoughtful questions to ensure families felt seen, supported, and understood during a pivotal moment in their lives.

Originally from Morristown, New Jersey, Marcia devoted her professional career to education. She taught high school English in East Orange and Mountain Lakes before becoming a high school counselor in Boonton, roles that reflected her lifelong belief in helping people recognize their potential. In 1982, she relocated to Jacksonville Beach and later joined Episcopal High School, where she served as Registrar until her retirement in 2000.

Retirement opened the door for Marcia to pour her talents into Beaches Habitat. Her counselor’s heart and keen insight strengthened the family selection process and helped uphold the dignity and integrity of our mission. Marcia believed deeply in giving back to the community she called home, and her steady presence was a gift to staff, volunteers, and partner families alike.

Marcia’s generosity continues to live on. Her name was proudly displayed as a sponsor of one of the first homes built in Beaches Habitat’s newest community, Coastal Haven — a fitting tribute to a woman whose life’s work centered on opening doors and building brighter futures.

Marcia Booth will be remembered for the time, talent, and heart she gave so freely. Her legacy of service continues to inspire our work and our community.

We remember and honor the life and service of longtime volunteer Marcia Booth, whose compassion and dedication shaped Beaches Habitat for more than two decades.
